The Caring Community Foundation has received a $50,000 grant from SearStone and Lutheran Services Carolinas to support the Caring for Wake program. The SearStone and LSC Community Benefit Grant Committee announced the grant approval on Wednesday, November 25, 2015.
“We are beyond thrilled to be the recipients of this grant. With the $50,000 grant from SearStone and LSC, the Caring Community Foundation will be serving at least 66 elderly and indigent men and women undergoing cancer treatment in Wake County through financial assistance with needs such as rent, utilities, transportation, etc. with the potential to reach an additional 65-75 family members.” Hannah Earnhardt, Executive Director stated.
The SearStone and LSC Community Benefit Grant Committee directs five percent of revenues from the operation of SearStone to Wake County nonprofit organizations serving seniors, indigent seniors or other vulnerable populations.
For the next year, the Caring Community Foundation will be able to support additional local cancer patients by providing resources and assistance, allowing patients to re-focus on healing. Caring for Wake will ensure these patients do not need to worry about being evicted from their homes, have their electricity turned off or find transportation to and from treatments.
