Breakfast In Bed Race

What:  Fast beds rolling down the quaint streets of Cary, great costumes and entertainment.

Why:  Because you can help area cancer patients in need while cheering on your favorite bed…and because it’s fun!

Time:  Event opens at 8:30am.  Beds can be dropped off between 8:30am-9:30am. Parade begins at 10:00am ~ Races will start immediately following the parade.

Register
Bed Race Rules
  • All bed racers MUST sign the Waiver of Liability and acknowledgement of the Bed Race Rules and Regulations before participating in the race.
  • Each team must identify a team captain to ensure team is registered and the racing bed is within bed rules and regulations.
  • Team captains are responsible for ensuring bed is within the bed rules and regulations.
  • All 5 team members (4 runners/pushers and 1 rider) must pass the finish line with the bed in order to win a race heat.
  • All runners/pushers must be in control of their bed until it comes to a complete stop.
  • Bed riders must sit or lay flat on the bed and MUST be wearing a helmet.
  • It is strongly recommended that team members wear protective gear including gloves, knee and elbow pads, etc.
  • Judges’ decisions on race times, bed construction and in all matters pertaining to the race are final.
  • Pushing the bed only during the race, no pulling.
  • Teams should not interfere or impede the progress of an opposing team.
  • The use of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs prohibited during the race.
  • It is the responsibility of the team captain and team members to remove their bed and bed accessories after the race and/or event.
  • The Caring Community Foundation reserves the right to disqualify a bed for not meeting bed construction rules.
Bed Construction
  • Frames maybe made from any material (wood, metal, aluminum, etc.) and able to support the person on the bed.
  • Beds must have four wheels of any size, all must touch the ground.
  • Mattress or padding must be part of design and must mimic a bed. 
  • Air mattresses are allowed but must be fully inflated.
  • Mattress must be on the bed at all times.
  • No sharp items, glass or obscene items on beds.
  • No steering devices allowed.
  • No propulsion other than the team pushing it. No motors.  Human power only.  No brakes.
  • Decorations and themes are encouraged- be creative!
